Today, travel south of the Mason-Dixon Line to spend the day visiting the historic district of Annapolis, Maryland. You begin your visit with a trolley tour of Annapolis, conducted by a “colonial” guide. View Maryland’s capitol, the country’s oldest capitol in continuous legislative use, the Governor’s residence, colonial mansions and gardens, sailboats along the waterfront, three homes of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, the City Dock, water views from three bridges, Victorian bungalows, St. Johns College and much more.
Disembark the trolley at the Visitors’ Center on the campus of the United States Naval Academy, home to 4,000 of our country’s future Naval leaders. Take a walking tour of the scenic Academy grounds. See the United States Naval Academy Chapel, the crypt of John Paul Jones, the United States Naval Academy Museum, Stribling Walk and numerous monuments. * Please note that everyone must have picture identification with them in order to enter the Naval Academy grounds!
Enjoy lunch on your own at one of the many eateries in the dock area. Watch the boats coming in and leaving the harbor. Explore some of the shops, galleries, museums and historic homes in the area. You will have approximately three hours of free time to explore the parts of Annapolis that interest you.
Later, board the “Harbor Queen” for a 40-minute cruise that enables you to view the Annapolis Harbor, the banks of the United States Naval Academy and the Severn River.
Following the cruise, leave Annapolis and stop for a buffet dinner (included) en route home.
