Travel with us to the Franklin Institute to view the world premier exhibit of Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt.

Cleopatra VII (69 B.C. – 30 B.C.) was the last ruler of her family’s dynasty and the last queen of Egypt. She was the star-crossed lover of Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, head of state, mistress of political intrigue, speaker of multiple languages and book author, as well as a daughter, sister, wife and mother.

After the Romans defeated her navy, both Cleopatra and Mark Antony took their own lives. Some historians believe she was buried with Mark Antony, but no traces of their remains have ever been found. While pharaohs’ tombs have been excavated over the centuries, the location of Cleopatra’s final resting place has remained a mystery for nearly two thousand years.

The latest developments in the search for clues about her life and death will be revealed in Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt. This multimedia exhibit will feature more than 250 artifacts related to Cleopatra and her world, from 15-foot tall statues to gold coins. It will highlight the work of two prominent explorers and the historic treasures they have discovered near Alexandria, Egypt, and off Egypt’s coast.

Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt is presented by the same organizers, including National Geographic, that developed the 2007 exhibit Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs also shown at the Franklin Institute.

After viewing the Cleopatra Exhibit, spend the remainder of your day exploring and discovering in the Franklin Institute Science Museum. The museum includes the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, many permanent displays such as the large scale Giant Heart, Franklin . . . He’s Electric! . . . Hands-on Science, Space Command Exhibit, the Sports Challenge, one Fels Planetarium Show and much more. Also available, at your own expense is the Tuttleman IMAX Theater. The museum has food service available.

The coach will depart from The Franklin Institute at 4:00 P.M. It will return to York at approximately 8:00 P.M. and Hanover at 8:45 P.M.

There will be a breakfast stop (on your own), in the Lancaster area, en route to Philadelphia and a buffet dinner stop (included) en route home.
