Sit back and enjoy the scenery as you travel to Southern Vermont and the Horizon Inn. The inn is tucked into the side of Vermont’s Green Mountains. During your stay, delight in the beautiful panoramic view of the mountains.
Shortly after entering Vermont, you stop at Camelot Village, a cluster of preserved antique dairy barns located on Route 9, the “Gateway to Vermont.” Here you can choose to spend time browsing in a Craft Center, an Antique Center, Occasional Flowers, The Country Store or Bennington Vintage Sewing.
Upon arrival at the Inn, you receive a red carpet greeting and a wine and cheese orientation in the lounge. Then it’s off to unpack and just enjoy the next few days. While here, you will take day trips to visit some of the interesting attractions in Vermont. Begin your stay with dinner (included) followed by a musical evening with “The Maple Sugar Serenaders” in the Heritage Lounge. Breakfast and lunch are on your own.
Following breakfast (included), you’re off to the quaint town of Weston, VT and a visit to the Vermont Country Store. At the country store, best known for its mail order catalogue, return to another century to find practical household goods, clothing, an old-fashioned candy counter and many items that you can no longer find anywhere.
Travel to scenic and historic Plymouth Notch for a tour of the area and lunch (included). Considered the best preserved presidential birthplace in the nation, this rural village includes the homes of Calvin Coolidge’s family and neighbors, a general store, church, a working cheese factory and the 1924 Summer White House office. Here, in the family homestead, Coolidge was sworn in as our 30th president.
Continue on to Woodstock Village, noted for its historic Federal-style homes and charming village green and later view a scenic portion of Quechee Gorge, “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon” and its most spectacular natural wonder.
Return to the Inn for dinner (included) and a musical evening featuring Roxanne and Bob.
Rise, shine and enjoy a tasty breakfast (included) served at the Inn. Following breakfast, depart for Waterbury, VT and a tour of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory with a sample after the tour. Enjoy lunch (included) and beautiful views on a visit to the world famous Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. Continue on to the Cabot Creamery for a tour of the working plant. See how they transform milk from local farms into the “Best Cheddar in the World” and enjoy sampling some of their cheeses. Return to the Inn for dinner (included). The remainder of the evening is free to swim in the indoor heated pool, relax in the hot tub and/or sauna, play cards, or rest.
Following breakfast (included), gather for a group photo before heading to the Adams’ Farm, rated as one of the top attractions in Vermont. This working family farm, featured on Good Morning America, offers agricultural history, a wagon ride (weather permitting), animals and fun. Return to the Inn for lunch (included).
After lunch, travel to Hogback Mountain and its 100-mile scenic views and country store. End the afternoon’s activities with a delightful boat ride along the Connecticut River. Return to the Inn for a special last night dinner (included) and a musical evening in the Heritage Lounge featuring “Summer Squash.”
Following breakfast (included), board the coach for the journey home with fond memories of a vacation to remember and a wish to return. A lunch stop (on your own) will be made en route home.
The coach will return to New Cumberland at approximately 5:30 P.M., York at 6:00 P.M. and Hanover at 6:45 P.M.
