The Statue of Liberty National Monument is located on Liberty Island in Upper New York Bay.  France presented the statue to the United States in 1884.  It commemorates the alliance between the U.S. and France during the American Revolution.

Ellis Island, located near the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, was this country’s main point of entry for immigrants between 1892 and 1924.  Displayed here are exhibits that chronicle the history of the processing station and the island.  In addition, the Immigration Library, oral history studio and the American Immigrant Wall of Honor are located here.

The coach takes you to Liberty State Park, New Jersey where you board the ferry to go to the Statue of Liberty and/or Ellis Island.  Security screening will occur prior to boarding the ferry.  No large bags or packages, nor sharp instruments, are allowed on either island.  Belt buckles affect the screening equipment, so the less metal on you, the better.

The ferry first stops at Ellis Island, proceeds to Liberty Island where the Statue of Liberty is located and then returns to Liberty State Park.

NOTE:  Access and activities may be restricted, altered or cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Coach departs from Liberty State Park, NJ at 5:00 P.M. to return home.  Expected time of return to Capital City Airport is 9:00 P.M., York at 9:30 P.M. and Hanover at 10:15 P.M.

Coach makes a breakfast stop going to Liberty State Park, NJ and a fast-food stop en route home.  Both food stops are on your own.

The following information has been copied directly from the internet in regard to the Ferry and the Statue of Liberty.

Please note the following security considerations:

To better understand the monumental work of art of the Statue of Liberty, visitors are able to go inside the Statue’s pedestal, view the museum exhibit, see the interior structure of the Statue through a glass ceiling, and take in the 360-degree views from the pedestal observation deck.  The Statue’s body and crown have limited accessibility, but the torch has been officially closed since July 1916.  VISITORS MUST BE ABLE TO ASCEND 24 STEPS TO REACH THE OBSERVATORY LEVEL.

The timed-ticket Statue of Liberty Tour using THE MONUMENT ACCESS PASS includes the following:

  • Access into the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.
  • The presentation of talks by Park Rangers providing historical background in the Statue of Liberty National Monument Museum and on the observation deck atop the pedestal.
  • Views of the unique design and construction of the Statue of Liberty National Monument with an insider’s view.
  • A spectacular 360-degree view of New York harbor from the observation balcony

Access to the crown of the Statue of Liberty National Monument is available by reservation only.  The numbers of people who may have access to the crown, at any given time, are very limited.  Because of these limited numbers, bus groups cannot be accommodated.
