We invite you to follow in the footsteps of Marines:  from the yellow footprints that young recruits must fill at boot camp to the boot prints left in the sand of Pacific Island beaches during World War II, in the snow of the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War, and on Hill 881 South in Vietnam.

Combining priceless artifacts, such as the original flag raised on Iwo Jima, with documentary films, combat art, and recordings of Marines telling their own stories, the galleries bring the wartime experiences of every Marine to life.  The Making Marines Gallery immerses you in the unique experience of boot camp where common citizens are transformed into elite warriors endowed with the Marine’s warrior spirit.  Tying the exhibits together, the Legacy Walk transports visitors through 200 years of Marine Corps history and is a wonderful introduction to the Marine experience.

Lunch is at the museum.  You receive a $11.00 voucher (included) toward your lunch in the Mess Hall.

THIS IS A SELF-GUIDED TOUR AND REQUIRES MUCH WALKING.

You leave the museum at 3:00 P.M.

Coach returns to York approximately 7:15 P.M. and Hanover at 8:00 P.M.

There is no food stop en route to the museum, but there is a buffet dinner (included) en route home.

MUSEUM DISCLAIMER:
Throughout the Museum, highly realistic cast figures, photographs and movie footage describe and depict combat actions.  Younger visitors may find the graphic natures of these displays disturbing or unsettling.  Additionally, several of the exhibit galleries include full immersive, interactive combat environments that may be frightening to very young children.  Visitors bringing young children to the National Museum of the Marine Corps are encouraged to speak with a Museum Docent at the Information Desk if they are concerned that the Museum’s exhibits may not be age-appropriate for their children.
