Board the coach and enjoy the scenery as you travel to Charleston, South Carolina.  Today, en route, breakfast and lunch are on your own.  Upon arrival in Charleston, you check into the hotel for the next three nights.  Dinner (included) at a restaurant nearby.  If you wish to spend the evening downtown, a free shuttle is available, from the hotel, for your use.

Begin the day with a continental breakfast (included) at the hotel.  Meet your step-on guide, dressed in authentic pirate garb, for a two hour tour of Charleston.  While on tour learn some of Charleston’s fascinating history.  Charleston, South Carolina’s second largest city was originally named Charles Towne, after King Charles II of England.  The city moved to its present location (Oyster Point) from a location on the west bank of the Ashley River (Albermarle Point) in 1680.  It adopted its present name in 1783.

Board the SpiritLine Cruise at Aquarium Wharf and cruise to Fort Sumter for a self-guided tour.  The first engagement of the Civil War took place at Fort Sumter on April 12 and 13, 1861.  After the visit to Fort Sumter, return to Charleston to enjoy lunch (on your own) and free time at the Historic Old City Market complex.  The City Market is comprised of four buildings, spanning from Meeting Street to East Bay Street, with basket weavers, local artists, jewelry, tapestry, souvenirs, church dolls, afghans, rugs, local candies, cookies and much, much more!  Dinner (included) at a favorite Charleston Restaurant.  After dinner, the local guide joins us again to tell tales of the pirates who made Charleston a port-o-call during the Golden Age of Piracy.  After a fun-filled day, you board the motorcoach and return to the hotel.

Following a continental breakfast (included) at the hotel, board the motorcoach and depart for Boone Hall Plantation, one of America’s oldest working, living plantations.  The tour of the plantation begins when you walk down the Avenue of Oaks, one of the most spectacular entrances anywhere in the world, to the plantation’s home.  Visit the home and discover why Boone Hall is “America’s Most Photographed Plantation.”  Visit the slave area and see the new Black History in America Exhibit on display in eight original slave cabins.  Explore the Gullah Culture, a unique culture adapted by the African slaves.  Leave Boone Hall, on our coach, and return to Charleston to enjoy lunch (on your own).  After lunch, visit the Edmondston-Alston House, on Battery Street.  This house was constructed in 1825 by merchant Charles Edmondston.  It was from this house that General P.T. Beauregard watched the fierce bombardment of Fort Sumter, signaling the start of the Civil War.  Enjoy the magnificent view of Charleston Harbor from the Edmondston-Alston House.  Return to the hotel for some rest and relaxation.  This evening, dinner (included) will be enjoyed at a distinctive, Charleston waterfront restaurant.

After a continental breakfast (included) at the hotel, begin your journey home with lunch and dinner (on your own) en route.
