Experience a bit of Connecticut when you travel with us to visit Groton, Mystic and Essex. On Day 1, enjoy the scenery as you travel from Pennsylvania to the hotel in Groton, CT where you spend the next three nights. En route, breakfast and lunch are on your own while dinner is included.
After having a continental breakfast (included), begin Day 2’s activities. Get on the coach and proceed to Essex, CT and the Essex Steam Train Station. Upon arrival, take some time to visit the gift shop, inside the station. Then board a vintage rail car, pulled by an authentic steam locomotive, and enjoy a narrated 1-hour journey through the Connecticut River Valley. The day continues with lunch (included) at the Gelston House in East Haddam, CT. After lunch, go next door to the historic, Victorian Goodspeed Opera House to see a live performance of the American classic “Mame.” The Opera House was built in 1876 by William Goodspeed for his shipping and banking business and to provide a venue for his love of theatre. Goodspeed has achieved international acclaim as the home of musical theatre and has pioneered the practice of rethinking, restoring and revitalizing America’s musical theatre heritage. Return to Groton for dinner (included).
Day 3 begins with a continental breakfast (included) at the hotel. After breakfast,
board the coach and travel to the Mystic area of Connecticut. Here you will visit Mystic Seaport, the nation’s leading maritime museum that offers programs and activities for all ages. Founded in 1929 and encompassing 17 acres, this museum allows you to explore American maritime history first-hand. Climb aboard historic tall ships, walk through a re-created mid-1800’s coastal village and watch a working preservation shipyard in action. Enjoy lunch (on your own) at the Galley Restaurant at Mystic Seaport.
After lunch, return to Groton, CT to visit the Submarine Force Museum and Library and the historic USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear powered submarine and the first to complete an undersea voyage to the North Pole. The Submarine Force Museum, located along the Thames River, maintains the world’s finest collection of submarine artifacts, including more than 33,000 artifacts, 20,000 significant documents and 30,000 photographs. Return to the hotel for some relaxation before going to dinner (included) at the Mohegan Sun Buffet. Following dinner, spend some time checking out the casino and its shops before returning to the hotel.
Rise and shine to start Day 4 with a continental breakfast (included) at the hotel. After breakfast, depart for home with memorable moments of your Connecticut adventure. Lunch and dinner are on your own.
Coach will return to the Capital City Airport at approximately 7:30 P.M., York at 8:00 P.M. and Hanover at 8:45 P.M.
