A gift of 3000 cherry trees in 1912 is now Washington, D.C.’s greatest springtime celebration. The pale pink and white blossoms of these trees announce the coming of spring to the city. The trees were given to the people of the United States by the people of Japan as a gesture of friendship and goodwill. The majority of these beautiful trees are found around the Tidal Basin in West Potomac Park, East Potomac Park (Hains Point) and the grounds of the Washington Monument. Join us in this once-in-a-lifetime Centennial celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Board the Odyssey III, the only ship of its kind in the U.S., for a 2-hour luncheon cruise on the Potomac River. This ship resembles a grand European canal ship and was designed specifically to cruise beneath the Potomac River’s historic bridges. Eat lunch, a delicious 3-course plated meal, in a climate-controlled, glass-atrium dining room while enjoying fantastic views of the cherry trees and some of our country’s greatest monuments. Enjoy listening and dancing to a live band.
NOTE: Proper attire is required for the Odyssey. Acceptable dress: Business casual – skirts, slacks, khaki pants and collared shirts. Long walking shorts are acceptable. The management of the Odyssey absolutely requests that no jeans, sneakers, athletic shoes, shorts, tank tops or halter-tops be worn on board.
