Join us for an opportunity to visit the National World War II Memorial and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Space Center, two of the many interesting visitor sites in and near Washington, D.C.
Begin the day with a breakfast stop (on your own), before traveling to Washington, D.C. to spend some time visiting the National World War II Memorial. One of our nation’s newer treasures, the Memorial honors the 16 million men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces during the war and the millions who supported the war effort at home. The Memorial was completed in April and dedicated in late May 2004.
Board the coach and travel to Chantilly, VA, next to Dulles International Airport, to visit the National Air and Space Museum’s massive Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Here you can see the restored Enola Gay, which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, during World War II, a Concorde airliner, a Lockheed SR-71Blackbird and many other fascinating aircraft and spacecraft ranging in size from the small Piper Cub to the gigantic Space Shuttle Enterprise. In addition, the Udvar-Hazy Center has an IMAX Theater with a screen five stories high (admission not included), an observation tower where you can watch air traffic at Dulles Airport and a museum store containing a variety of gifts and souvenirs, all related to aviation and space exploration.
